Mid-Month Mini HM Report

It has only been two weeks since my first report, but I'm itching to get this information out there and I cannot wait another two week to include it in my next "full report".

Hence, the Mid-Month Mini HM Report

Programming Degrees

_ _

_ _ _

The eagle-eyed wiki watchers out there would have noticed that a few new Dark Side Degrees were added to the DJBWiki a couple of days ago.

Dark Maven: Programming has been reintroduced, but the requirements have changed. To be awarded this degree now, you must complete Udacity's "CS101: Introduction to Computer Science."

The Dark Savant: Programming is along the same lines but requires that you complete a more advanced Udacity course (see the DJBWiki for specific.)

Yes, these courses are external to the Shadow Academy. No, you cannot use other "RL" courses/training/experience as credit towards these degrees.

The purpose of using these specific courses, from this specific website, (other than to give you more opportunities to earn degrees) is to see what you think of this method of course delivery and testing. Why? I want to start offering video based courses through the Shadow Academy.

So, do the courses, earn the degrees and tell me what you think. What would you change about how Udacity works? What should we definitely do, and what should we ditch?

New Course

_ _

_ _ _

Thanks to Macron, the fourth course in the History of the Sith Empire series is now available.

Have a look over at the Academy.

Macron did an amazing job on this course. So much so, that he convinced me to deviate from my plans slightly. Originally I had intended to not introduce any new courses of this style (which has come to be known as "trivia courses"), but Macron's work convinced me to include just one more.

Going forward, new courses will teach practical skills, rather than ask you to retain and interpret knowledge and facts.

If you feel you have a skill you can teach your Brothers, and want to have a go at authoring your own Shadow Academy course, please write up a proposal (put your own flair on it, I'm not going to give you a specific format to follow) and send it through to Scelestus, Troutrooper and I.

All Courses Recovered

The final missing course, Debate II: Refutation, has been recovered and is able to be completed again.

You can now officially return the the Academy and complete your courses without fear of the course you're looking for not working.
