Alright, so… We have got some good stuff to cover in this report, so stick with me as I delve into Taldryans inner goodness!

First and foremost, I think this is one of the most looked forward too for recent projects in the DJB. And that is the release of the new and improved Grand Masters Royal Guard. This is, free paraphrasing here: The Gaming Communities version of the ACC. By competing in games and by earning a certain amount of Clusters of Fire in a span of 1 month, you gain rank. There are 4 Echelons wit 3 levels in each Echelon, with each level requiring a certain amount of CFs to keep you at said stage.
This, from what I can tell already, is far beyond the past GMRG in the basic way it works as well as the fictional spin it has engraved into it. Fictionally, each Echelon with the GMRG brings you higher and the ability to guard various ranks of members within the DJB. If you get to the 3rd Echelon, there is the perk that you can guard a Praetor, or possibly even a Dark Councilor. This brings extreme ties into any upcoming DJB fiction. If a DC member is in a bind, won’t he have his own personal guardsmen at the ready?
Anyways, safe to say it is looking baller. Link to Smokes News Post on it: Here

Secondly, the upcoming Vendetta. That is right, Vendetta. Been some time since we had one of those without the title GJW or RoS, huh? Felt forever to a newb like me. =P Moving on, there has been minimal talk about this large-scale competition coming up. This needs to be fixed! Starting October 1st (or unless stated otherwise) a brand new version of Vendetta will be underway to the DB! A bit dramatic, but I want to make sure no one misses this.
Taldryan has loved the call for War amongst itself and the other Clans of the Brotherhood; House Taldryan will continue this tradition. Over the two months since I have been Quaestor, I have already seen the spark of activity within Members of our great House, the fantastic hustle and bustle of competition submissions and award notifications spamming my inbox bringing both a sigh of relief and labor as I’m able to do my job with a skip in my step.
This Vendetta will be no exception for us. In fact, I ask now - as Brothers and Sisters within a Brotherhood - to step up passed 2nd place from the last two Vendettas and pick up 1st place once more. Taldryan took a realistic pride shot, now let us give them hell for it. So, who is with me?

Thirdly, the 1st installment of the Taldryan Times Volume 6 2010 is well underway and slated to be released mid-September (this month), and we are still accepting articles and comics and fictions and anything else that is TT worthy. We’ve got some nice guest articles as well, and I’m ecstatic to get them up in the infamous TT format and bring forth this year’s first issue!

Fourthly and lastly for the large announcements ( but not least) in this report, the appointment of Taldryan’s newest Aedile! The review of applications for Taldryan AED - albeit not the best session of applications I have seen terms of the amount of applications recieved – has been served with a few solid applications, none the least of which was Krath Priest Zaren Morgoth - AKA Anubis. This member displayed not only his desire to push Taldryan forward, but dedication to the overall betterment of the DJB and its members, but also his willingness and ability to continue and maintain his stellar amount of activity on projects and in communication with the members of the House. Overall, both the Grand Master and myself are happy with our decision, and are excited to see Anubis fulfill the stage of Aedile within Taldryan. For any future reference beyond my own, Anubiss email address is none other than: anneliese@taldryan.net
Should you ever have the need for contacting Anubis, please follow through to the email above, while CCing me and your BTL.

Also: I have officially been in the DB for 3 years and 1 day! Each and every day has been a part in Taldryan, a feat I am more than happy about. WIN.

For all of you who see anything updated/changed in regards to Taldryan’s Wiki Domain; from Ground Forces, to templates, to the KrTal system, Anubis is behind it. Taldryan Ground Forces Wiki. A neat little note about the Regiments within the Ground Forces; They’re named after Jac, Kir and Duga – three of Taldryan’s former Consuls who had a really great impact on Taldryan.

Also, who likes the updated Dossiers? I know I do.

Bens Boot: Name the 3 longest serving Consuls in Taldryan History.

  • Grand Masters Royal Guard Edition

Ma'ar paced in front of the recruits. Cut from the best cloth that the Brotherhood had to offer, they were a mixture of new faces, some hard from war, some stiff fresh from the Academy. He had Taigikori pull them from those who showed distinct promise, and from Korras' Obelisk trainers. They were a mottled crew, even in their new brightly colored uniforms.

He stopped in front of one of the troopers, noting a smile creasing the corner of his eyes.

    Trooper, why are you smiling?

Sir, I am merely proud to be wearing the uniform, sir.

The Kaleesh sneered beneath his mask. Some of them wouldn't learn. The bright and almost nauseating training uniforms were a throwback to the old days, before the Empire fell. They were supposed to encourage them to earn the more protective and all-around better looking uniforms of the next echelon.

Ma'ar moved with preternatural speed, his hands smoothly wrapping around the recruit's head as he kicked him in the stomach, knocking the trooper out of his own helmet, sending him crashing into the far wall.

Be proud after you have done something to be proud of.

Entrance to the Prestigious Grand Masters Royal Guard

As you can already figure out, the Grand Masters Royal Guard has been re-opened. Just to enter the Guard, you are required to take the Shadow Academy Exam. Once the exam has been graded you are in the Royal Guard. As a standing rule, I am looking for answers that are not copy - paste. If I see answers that are of this fashion, I will instantly deny the exam, and will let the Headmaster know of the infraction. My only exception to this is if the answer might be a one word answer but then you can always add to the wording of the answer. I will be grading exams on a daily basis so please, do not flood my email or pm`s asking if I will get that done for you. Its rude, and Im well known to make you wait a day or so.
Now the details are listed below. This society is purely based on your activity. The one limitation is you are only allowed to level one time each month and likewise if your activity falls below what is required for that rank on the next month you may also be in jepeordy of losing that rank, there is also points within the Echelon`s where you are at a safe point and will not drop any further nor can you be kicked out of the system at anytime. As you can see below that this is also based on Clusters of Fire. Custom items will be opened when you receive each rank, what those will be I will announce at a later time. As most will be seeing, the previous ranking`s of the past Grand Masters Royal Guard, has been reset. So everyone will be required to take the exam for entrance.

    Echelons

First Echelon - Many enter, but few display the skills to survive the Squall of Training of the Royal Guard.

I = Requirement: Pass the GMRG indoctrination course
II = Requirement: Attain 20 CFs in a month
III = Requirement: Attain 30 CFs in a month

Second Echelon - Having shown some skill and loyalty, these Guardsmen are trusted with more specialized training and may be used as escorts for a Magistrate.

IV = Requirement: Attain 60 CFs in a month
    V = Requirement: Attain 90 CFs in a month
VI = Requirement: Attain 120 CFs in a month

Third Echelon - Exceptional abilities separate these Guardsmen from the rest. Their distinction and service is seen with the presence of Praetors or even Dark Councilors.

VII = Requirement: Attain 150 CFs in a month
VIII = Requirement: Attain 180 CFs in a month
IX = Requirement: Attain 210 CFs in a month

Fourth Echelon - Paragons of skill, dedication, and effort is seen in these Guardsmen's every movement. It is these exemplary warriors that are trusted to guard the Dark Lord himself.

    X = Requirement: Attain 250 CFs in a month
XI = Requirement: Attain 300 CFs in a month
XII = Requirement: Attain 350 CFs in a month

Congrats goes out to Muz, and the staff he put together to get this rolling and done so fast!

  • Hello all,

To add to our extreme collection of courses already offered, GMRG History is now available through the Docent Halls. The exam questions still need to be tweaked, so don't take the course until I update this news post. All exams taken until then will be deleted. Enjoy!

**Exam is now ready to be taken!

Hello, everyone. This marks the beginning of my monthly reports. Here's how it's going to work: While I will submit an official Quaestor report each month, every week I will be sending out updates regarding competitions, vendetta prepping, battle team reminders, run-on reminders, etcetera. So, here we go.

    Photobucket

    Activity

With the new school year starting and people being inundated with work whether from their education or their jobs, schedules are changing for members of Tarentum. However, our activity levels look rather grim. Aedile Scion Altera has put together an excellent activity website and a great report sent out a week or so back documenting activity - what we need is you guys to give us stuff to put on it. We can't be a great house and attempt to become an awesome clan again if we don't actually put some effort into what we do. So here I will put a brief summary of our activity in terms of competitions, projects, and battle teams.

    Competition Activity

While our competition levels in gaming have been decent, our levels in writing are not. I just read Halcyon's Voice report and did not see a single submission by a Tarenti to any of his fiction competitions. Of course, with that comes the acknowledgment that I too did not participate. That, I believe, is a mistake on my part. I am obligated to lead by example, and so I shall from now on. That being said, we have plenty of competitions for you to do. Check out Halcyon's competitions and our house-specific competition, "Eden's 11," which ends on September 8th:

    http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/competition.php?id=5232

This is the first of our weekly writing exercises while we prepare for "Disorder," which is a vendetta that will begin October 1st. So we strongly, strongly encourage you to participate. Please send all fictional submissions to Scion.

    Projects

While the official competition for "The King and the Gods" ended on September 2nd, the run-on is still open for posting. There's no denying I want to finish the storyline, and I'm fairly disappointed in the outcome of it. Again, I am at least partially to blame - perhaps the storyline was too complicated and/or too exclusive, two things I was attempting to avoid. Therefore, those of you who wish to help me finish the run-on, please e-mail me or post a comment in the RO discussion thread on the forums. The link, as always, is below:

    http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6094

In the meantime, I will be redirecting our attention to smaller run-ons and storylines, perhaps focused more on our sub-units. It seems that as a unit, we just can't grind out the epic run-ons like we used to, so we're going to go down to a smaller scale and work up. This is where the battle teams come in.

    Battle Teams

Those of you who are not in battle teams - I highly suggest you join one. You have four to choose from: Rite of Sin, the Reckoners, Reinthaler, and Spectre. They are run by Bloodfyre, Dralin, Levathan, and Severon respectively.

BTLs - I want reports from you, sent out to your teams and CCed to me. Severon just released a Spectre report, and I want the rest of you to do the same. Those of you already in battle teams and have not heard from your BTLs, I apologize for that. There is a possibility that should a certain BTL fail to show activity and full commitment to his team regardless of activity levels within the next week, his battle team will be closed.

    Photobucket

    Anything else?

The truth of the matter, Tarentum, is that I don't have much to report on. While there are consistent updates from DC leaders that you can read on the main DB website, and plenty of competitions you can participate in that you can find on the competitions page - I'm not getting much from the house. I don't know if it's exhaustion, creative ennui, or just the fact that real life is getting in the way. But I do want Tarentum to thrive.

This unit cannot live without its members. Scion and I are relying on you to bring us back to our former glory. Our renown and drive to write great fiction and perform admirably in gaming and the ACC can't afford to wane, and we need to avoid stagnation. This is something I have fought before, as a Quaestor of House Cestus when it was pretty much dead; I can fight it on a larger scale as well.

If you feel at all that you need to consult me and Scion on anything regarding the house, you know our e-mails. I just don't want you guys to lose faith. This is a difficult climb, but we can scale the metaphorical mountain. We can achieve greatness again. We can breathe a bit more life into this house and into this club as a whole. I just hope you're as willing to put in the effort as I am.

    Until next time, Tarentum.

    Vongformed Jungle

The metallic legs of the walkers thudded almost rhythmically as they spread through the gap in the yorik spires, their pilots scanning left and right to survey the area. Versatile and small, the AT-STs were one of the few vehicles reliable anywhere in the jungle. As something heavy stirred in the bushes, a volley burst forth from one of the AT-ST's cannons, sending freakish birds and reptiles into the air in a panicked rush. Three platoons of black-armored soldiers dropped into formation instantly, raising their rifles and aiming at the mottled leaves that smoldered with a black, sap-thick fire.

"You there, Vorst," the Leiutenant said, motioning to the corpse, "Check it out."

Nodding and without complaint, the trooper obliged. Advancing slowly, he brushed back the bluish fauna and glanced at the corpse. Its side was obliterated, one of its two legs laying a few feet away, but it was identifiable nonetheless. "Confirmed kill. One of those Umrach things." Looking deeper into the bushes, at the razor-tipped mouth tentacles and the robed legs sticking out of them, the man stopped to look at the scenery behind the other bushes. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Dead troopers, some of them ripped or slashed in half, others stabbed or burnt with acid, covered the ground. Surrounding them were the bodies of reptilian chazrach, as well as other humanoids of all species. Dressed in clothing that was all spine and membrane, they all stood out for one feature; there was a sharp barb of surge coral in every forehead. The troopers far outnumbered the thralls and chazrach, showing who had been the victor. The battle had been over for hours, judging by the insects all over the bodies.

"Sir," Vorst said, reaching into the slimy mouth of the Umrach and pulling free a mucous-coated lightsaber, "We've got a situation here. You'd better alert Command."

    News

Feast your eyes, ladies and gentlemen, on the prelude to our Reboot event! That's right, it'll involve our very own Vong Jungle, left behind when the Yuuzhan Vong so kindly burnt Sigil 2's surface to lava and ash in the Eighth Great Jedi War! It's a place full of life but devoid of the Force, except where the faintest remains of bases or cities can be found. It's a place that was wild, feral, and ours alone to explore and inhabit... or so we thought.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, what a showing for the first month after the Reform. No fewer than 23 people have contacted us with their Branch choices! That's a hell of a start, but there are many more to go! If you have yet to choose a Branch for House Plagueis' Military Merit System, email me with your choices ASAP! It won't be long until the Reboot Event is complete, at which time any who haven't chosen will be auto-sorted at random into the four Branches. You'll be able to switch in the future, but nevertheless, we need to get everyone into the system!

Awards, awards, awards! In total, we've had rewards in the form of Scrolls, Crescents, Clusters of Fire, and Merit Medals. Altogether, they come to a total of 116 Awards! Compared to months before, even July, that rips apart past activity records! Way to go, Plagueis, I'm proud to call myself your Quaestor! Also, I'd like to congratulate those ladies and gentlemen dominating the Voice competitions time and again! The Ascendant House showed a strong performance on the playing field by placing in four out of five competitions! Excellent work on the fictional front!

It saddens me to say that my competitions didn't have the best turnouts. That said, while I didn't recieve more than one or two fiction submissions, the work done elsewhere in and out of House more than makes up for it. From wiki articles and graphics to event creation and competition hosting, you've all shown me that there are some definite powerhouses of activity within our House! I can't wait to see what you all do when you start fighting at full capacity!

In other news, I must regret the retirement of a steadfast face. Battlemaster Vivackus Kavon has decided to put more time into the duties of the Combat Master and the Intelligence Directorate, and is stepping down from the post of Aedile! With the seat of Lieutenant Supreme Commander of the Regime and Aedile of House Plagueis now open, it's only a matter of time before some eager newcomer takes the stage. More on that in a later section of the report. May the battle between you all be close, heated, and bloody!

    Future Plans

During September, probably spanning over three weeks, we will have the infamous Reboot Event! It will be a hectic series of competitions and events that kicks the Military Merit System back into action! First we shall see Merit Points set back to zero, followed by a calculation of all rewards and exams since my reign began. These points will be added to the Points of the members that earned them, followed by competitions worthy of points beyond imagining! Medal points will be multiplied. Participation will be rewarded with points. There may even be a side job or two worth a couple of points during the event. Rest assured, people, this Reboot will only happen once! When we have everyone sorted and assigned in the aftermath of the Reboot, we'll be ready to smash some heads in during the Rite of Supremacy in October.

Following the Reboot is the Great Plagueian Wiki Repair. This will be a long-term project, during which Plagueis articles will all be resorted, added to, adjusted, and updated to fit the highest standards. From the smallest, weakest speeder in our Order of Battle to our House page itself, we'll be bringing the Plagueian area of the Wiki to a level it's never been at before. It'll be a great time to get your name out there, contribute to the whole, and maybe even score some juicy medals for yourselves.

After the Rite of Supremacy, we'll be cracking open the eggshell on the Foxtrot Uniform Training System. This will be our new Master/Student Program, based off of what I'd begun with the Rule of Two Program before Clan Plagueis was made into House Plagueis. We will turn what has long been a disparate setup of vague education into a solid and united body of Masters, presiding over Students and Prospective Students with the care of an artisan craftsman. This will allow us to increase member skills, develop solid bonds of unity, and even host fun Master-Student events and competitions.

Joining the Army this month, we have:

    DJK Du'moth

    OT Koga Kage

OP Yzarc Rellik Kaeth di Plagia

    DJK Ralph Vundu

    PRT Furios

    SW Sarak Shai

    DJK Kodais Solatus

    ACO Navrez

Welcome to the Jusadih Armed Forces, guys!

Obelisk Templar Koga Kage ran the competition What Are You Made Of? While its participants were underwhelming in number, it's good to see some devotion to the House from the ranks. Keep up the good work, Kage!

My competition for the Army Branch, [Army] Belly of the Beast, only recieved one entry. That said, congratulations should go to Sith Warrior Sarak Shai for his superb piece of writing! Also, he should be commended for earning a Dark Cross for his work on the Reboot Event! Turns out even a Vong can be great in the DJB, exceptional effort, Sarak!

Obelisk Prelate Yzarc Rellik Kaeth di Plagia has been hard at work on our Ground Forces reorganization! Getting our troopers and equipment sorted into working units is a tricky job, but if you want to lend the blue-armored ex-Mandalorian of Plagueis a hand, just shoot him an email and CC me. Excellent initiative! Precisely what I expect of a di Plagia, Zarc!

Guardian Furios has been hard at work this month. Designing a helmet for Yzarc and helping out his shadowy allies at the Intelligence Directorate, he has also engaged myself in a heated ACC battle. Added to this are his 20 Clusters of Fire, more than anyone else so far for the month, one Crescent each with Emerald and Amethyst stars, and a Dark Cross. During that time, he earned a Promotion to Guardian. Superb performance, Furios!

Joining the Navy this month, we have:

    JH Tiberius di Cloud

    DJK Maol Nor Lexu

    KAP Kaira Rohana

    OE Alaris Jinn di Plagia

    ACO Raith Grak

Welcome to the Jusadih Fleet, ladies and gents!

My Navy competition, [Navy] Boarding Action, recieved a couple of entries. Both participants will be receiving rewards very soon!

One of these, Jedi Hunter Tiberius di Cloud, has stepped up to the plate this month. In addition to placing in Boarding Action, he should be congratulated for earning a Dark Cross! Good work, Tibs!

Protector Imichua will also be receiving a Crescent for his submission. He's also earned fifteen Clusters of Fire and a Crescent with Sapphire Star. He ran the competition Director of your Favorite Star Wars scene and is currently running the competition JO and BF Massacre, so get out there and keep him busy by gaming. Great work, Imichua!

Krath Archpriestess Kaira Rohana continues to be active even when strained for time. She has earned 13 Clusters of Fire and three Crescents, Emerald, Sapphire, and Amethyst stars respectively. Added to her work as RM, she's a busy bee as ever. Thanks for all the effort, Kaira!

Dark Jedi Knight Maol Nor Lexu has shown his face to the DJB at large by earning two Crescents with Amethyst Star. Also, he is hard at work designing graphics for a new base to be located on Morroth. Keep up the hard work, Lexu!

Joining the Directorate this month, we have:

    JH Unus Domus

    OPM Denath Ciarus

    DJK Jendan Morgana

    PRT Visius

    SW Cassandra El'sin

    DJK Mograine

    DJK Voden Arjin

    KPN Alex D'Tana

    SBM Vivackus Kavon di Plagia

Welcome to the Jusadih Intelligence Directorate, ladies and gentlemen.

My competition for the Directorate, [Intel] Blown Cover, recieved only a single entry. Still, good work to the participant!

Jedi Hunter Unus Domus, my student, has stepped up in a huge way. He has taken on the task of overseeing and coordinating the redesign of the Intel Branch as a whole. Aside from this, he has earned a Dark Cross for his Wiki work and has earned 16 Clusters of Fire. Good work, my young apprentice!

Dark Jedi Knight Voden Arjin has just transferred into Plagueis, and already has been hard at work. For putting together the Codename: Stygium wiki article, he has earned himself a Dark Cross. He has also managed to earn a Dark Side Scroll and continues to work within the Intel Branch. Excellent work, Voden!

Protector Visius has recently come to Plagueis from the Rogues. In that time, he has completed four Shadow Academy exams and has earned a promotion to the rank of Protector. Keep up the good work!

Sith Warrior Cassandra El'sin has shown the DJB what Plagueis can do by taking First Place in a Voice competition! Congratulations on the Crescent with Ruby Star! Way to dominate the playing field, Cassie!

Dark Jedi Knight Mograine has been hard at work. He has earned 4 Clusters of Fire and a Crescent with Topaz Star. He was the one participant in Blown Cover and will recieve a crescent for it. In addition, he has undertaken a huge task of his own free will and is currently outlining and designing the layout for the redesigned Intel Branch. Great initiative, Mog!

Dark Jedi Knight Jendan Morgana has earned 2 Clusters of Fire and 2 Scrolls of Foundation. In addition, she has earned the Milestone rank of Dark Jedi Knight! Good job, Morgana!

Joining the Corps this month, we have:

    DJK Octavia Kuga

    SW Vexer Thrace

    SW Dismal Visutor

    SWL Vessicant

Welcome to the Jusadih Starfighter Corps, guys and girls.

My Corps competition, [Corps] Grip of the Interdictor, only recieved one submission. Still, it was a wild read, and our Warlord participant will recieve a Crescent.

Sith Warlord Vessicant steps from the shadows to give us a thrill ride in the lone submission to Grip of the Interdictor, thus reminding us that it's always the quiet ones you have to watch. Excellent effort, Vessicant.

Dark Jedi Knight Octavia Kuga has taken on the job of redesigning the Firefox-class Fighter Carrier Perdition for use as a mobile HQ for the Corps. Great initiative Tavi!

Sith Warrior Dismal Visutor has asked to help out with our Dominion. As such, he's been tasked with doing some work to revamp and redesign the planet Nintura. Way to step up, Dis!

    Aedile Applications

Our Aedile, Vivackus Kavon di Plagia, has stepped down from his post to pursue the duties of Combat Master. As such, the right-hand spot next to my Throne is empty, and that simply will not do. Anyone interested in being Aedile of the House of Ascendancy and Lieutenant Supreme Commander of the Jusadih Military Regime, send in an application.

    Requirements:

    - Rank of DJK or higher.

    - 24 Hour email turn-around time, 48 Hour email turn-around time under strain.

    - Regular Presence on IRC.

    - Willingness to work hard and accept varied projects.

    - Decisive and forward-thinking attitude.

I want to let everyone know that this is open to the entire DJB. If my new AED's a Plagueian already, that's cool, but if not, I hope to see some new blood bringing new ideas and innovations. Let it be known, I'm demanding of my Aediles and expect them to work diligently on all tasks. If you can do that, you'll do well.

    Special Mention

I think it's vital to mention the importance of Communication. It's what drives us and keeps us going as a club. It's how we develop bonds of friendship, learn and grow, and succeed. So, in the spirit of Communication, reach out to your fellow Plagueians and DJB members. Make an effort to become friends with people both inside and outside of the House. Direct new people to IRC and help them when they're in trouble, and if you're new, ask for help. It's essential, it's what makes this place great, and best of all, it's easy.

    Food for Thought

"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other."

    -John F. Kennedy.

    Conclusion

Good work, everyone! Let's try for even more medals and better achievements in the month of September! Look forward to the Reboot Event, and prepare your sabers and other weapons for the Rite of Supremacy in October! We have members in all of our Branches and we have activity and success across the board. Let's keep it coming, people! Let's live up to our motto and really show this club what House Plagueis can do!

    Adapt! Ascend! Avail!

  • Report #7 - September 4, 2010

I thought I would jump onto the report bandwagon, so I don't feel left out :P Just a few things to go over this time around, so you will probably get a short report from me. Rejoice :P

To start things off this week, I will just come clean and say that this has been by far my least active month since taking on the office. While I've managed to keep on top of the day-to-day things, I have not put any real dents in the various ongoing projects that are floating around me. Just became buried under work (the paying kind :P) that I haven't had the time or energy to really get things moving on the DB side of things. The same can be said for the rest of my staff as well, as we all just got hit at the same time. However, things look to be clearing for all of us, and we'll be diving back into all of the outstanding work we have.

I do feel guilty about letting things slide over the month, so I do apologize for that. RL happens, and we'll just work through it and do the best we can.

Alright, it's September now, meaning that all of the August competitions are now over and have been graded. I released the results for the first part of the Other Realms competition a few weeks back, but I'll put them back here along with the results of all the other competitions over the past month. Thank you to everyone who participated! All of the awards are just waiting on approval to hit your dossiers.

Competition Time! Below are the new September competitions running. The theme this month revolves around "Orders", so a couple of the competitions deals with the various Orders in the DB. Enjoy!

Load the Can(n)ons #2 - Each month we will give you the opportunity of throwing it down with a character from the "real" Star Wars universe. Your job is to write the story of a battle between yourself and that character. The story would be considered "out of continuity" as the timelines just would not match. The idea if for your character as they currently are to face off against a canon character from a specific timeline. How that happens is completely up to you. This month, we have for you Boba Fett! This is the Fett from just before ESB, or at his physical prime, more or less. Good luck!

Create an Order - It's just what it sounds like, more or less. This is your chance to make your very own Order that can rival the Sith, Obelisk and Krath!

Defining an Order - This is a very character-based fiction, so it is a great way to help you flesh out your character a bit more. You will be looking at how your Order (Sith, Obelisk or Krath) defines you as a dark jedi in the Dark Brotherhood.

For further details on all of these competitions please visit the links. Each competition is giving out First Level Crescents, and the due date for each one is September 30th. Good luck!

Just a couple of quick updates on things that are still on-going. Viv is still looking into the ACC Basics course and should have something in shortly. Like myself he was hit by the RL bug, but we've spoken and this will be moving ahead ASAP. The DB-Wide Run-On is just finishing up now. Just waiting on some people to put in their last posts so that the storyline can end and then awards handed out. Next time we have a Run-On it will be run in a different fashion that will hopefully make for better participation. The 2v2 Ladder is also going strong, and the second round should be finishing up shortly. I'm looking forward to reading these battles, as they do have some interesting match-ups. Only two more rounds to go before one Team is proclaimed winner.

Just a very small rant this week. For those of you with character pages on the wiki that have had special items given to them or approved by past GMs and what not, please say so somewhere on the page itself. Make a little footnote or OOC comment about it. Usually these items would not be allowed under normal circumstances, so it helps us a lot when reading pages. Just one less thing to point out when commenting on individual pages.
And now, for a little treat. That's right, I get to show off pretty pictures this time! These are just two images relating to some special perks for ACCers in the near future. Enjoy!

"You know about the other Shadow Academy, I presume."
Taigikori propped himself on his desk, his fingers drumming the surface, as he stared back at Dacien. "The one founded in 23 ABY? I thought it had been destroyed."

"It was. My travels to find the holocron took me past where it had once been," Dacien said. "There's still a dark aura about the area where the battle station self-destructed, close to Yavin 4. It was there that I noticed a ship hovering around the area before it quickly departed. A ship that must have been holding something powerful."

    "Go on."

Dacien gritted his teeth. "I decided to follow it," he continued. "Not just because I was curious, mind you. The power that I sensed on the ship worried me. I was able to lock onto it and detect its path. It didn't go too far - in fact, it finally landed in Alzar, in the Gordian Reach, Thanium sector."

The Headmaster arched an eyebrow. This intrigued him. Alzar was well-known for being a vulnerable planet, having suffered dearly during the Stenax Massacres and the reign of Warlord Zsinj. What someone would want to do with the survivors, especially after the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, was something to take note of. Taigikori moved to the portal overlooking the courtyard, his eyes locked on the ground far below.

    "So?"

"I landed a safe distance away from an Alzarian village," Dacien said. "The man who stepped out of the vessel...I have never seen the likes of such before. I knew immediately that he was a Jedi. If I wasn't careful, he could sense me...but I was able to hear tidbits of what he said in his conversation to the Alzarians."

    "What was he saying?"

"He was mostly asking random questions about the government of the Alzarians. Like he thought it was run by someone else." Dacien paused. "In fact, he claimed that we had taken over the planet."

The sky had begun to darken outside. Taigikori didn't move from his standing spot.

"The Jedi did ask one interesting question, though...he said he had searched for a 'Shadow Academy' and found it destroyed...and he wondered if it was ours. The Alzarians said no, that it had been controlled by the Second Imperium. ...So he asked, 'Where's the real Shadow Academy?'"

Taigikori felt the veins bulge in his forehead. Blood was beginning to pump its way up his neck and straight into his brain, a jolt of unprecedented adrenaline.

    "Taigikori...he's looking for Lyspair."

There was a harsh silence at Dacien's proclamation. The Warlord stood still, awaiting the Headmaster's reply. He received a simpering smile and a curt nod, before Taigikori spoke again.

"Thank you, Bubba. This information is...useful, to say the very least." Taigikori beckoned toward the door. "You are dismissed."

When Dacien was gone, the Headmaster acted quickly. He jumped to the comm station and punched in a few keys, signaling a transmission to the lower levels of the Academy. Almost instantly, a small blue silhouette of the intern from before emerged.

    "What do you need, Headmaster?"

"I need you to check on all ship activity of those heading in and out of the Academy," Taigikori said, his voice reduced to a harsh growl. "Any air traffic on Lyspair must be documented. My orders."

"Yes, sir," the intern said before his hologram fizzled into non-existence. Taigikori raised his head from the station, his heart still pounding like a drum.

"This better be taken care of."

He went to the wall and retrieved the Sith Lord's dagger with the wall. Its cold, harsh blade glared back at it, showing a muddled reflection of his sinister features.

"Now I have a sacrifice to make¦ and a Praetor to baptize in its blood."

    ***

His journey had taken him deep into the Outer Territories, a never-ending velvet cosmos. The hum of the engine beneath him relaxed him - the vast emptiness of space calmed him. No dark patrols. No security checkpoints. Just the endless vacuum untouched by the hands of the Dark Jedi.

33 ABY. It seemed so long ago in his still very short life. He had turned eight years old in 33 ABY. He had become a padawan to the New Jedi Order. But the years had passed so quickly and so brutally, and he had become hardened and headstrong for Skywalker's code. And during that time, the Brotherhood had only grown more powerful, recovering from its stint with Yuuzhan Vong and Jedi alike...

It had proven too much for him. But now, he had gone back. Back into the years where he was still a child newly learning the Force. He was no longer a youngling, but he would find each and every youngling in his path. He would turn them away from the dark side, before they became the intimidating, sinister Dark Jedi Masters that he knew them as in the foreboding years.

He maintained a firm grip on the ship's controls, his piloting skills never failing him. He had cast his long robe aside, his tunic bunched up against the chair as he leaned back. He was not a burly figure, but he was tall and big enough to take on several men at once. And the simple silver hilt on his belt did wonders in helping him in his fights, no matter how much he wished he did not need to ignite the blade and let it submit to its fiery dance.

He keyed in the coordinates so that he would jump into hyperspace once more, as the freighter lurched into the spiral of stars streaming past him like white ribbons. How tempting it was to take advantage of this new-found time. But Liu Van Dae would not succumb so quickly. He had a mission, and Antei was the X on his unfurled treasure map.

    ***

The young girl barely had time to scream. The dagger had moved too quickly for the strangled noise to erupt from her constricted throat, spraying red in its distorted dance across her flesh. The various tattoos she wore on her back and neck split open in a bloody work of art, veins snapped and severed as the steps she kneeled on began to dampen with her lifestream.

She died with her face turned away from her killer, who lifted the knife from her destroyed vertebrate but did not move to clean the blade that has once been held by one of the Sith Lords of old. The blood of a whore, and a sinner, was difficult to remove from the altar he stood upon, his robes hanging loosely about his ankles as his eyes blazed in the dim lighting of the enclosed space. When the girl slumped forward and lay in her own decay, Taigikori Aybara Dupar raised his head to face the one kneeling in front of the steps, the one who had witnessed the sacrifice.

The Headmaster lifted his bloodied hand. His fingers unfurled from his sweaty palm, and as the knowledge of the Vault flowed from him, he remembered what he had learned. From the time of his own initiation, under Aabsdu, he had grown worthy of the wisdom of the universe. All knowledge of Sith, Obelisk, and Krath alike was open to him.

    Tave jen' garthaz ne azinimas.

The Quaestor before him he had never expected to be here. But she had proven herself, not just as a warrior and a general, but also as one worthy of the same knowledge.

    Tave jen' garthaz ne kiekis.

She was beginning to become perceptible to the dark energy flooding her senses. It was as if a dark smoke seeped through her pores, yet with each pulse and breath she saw more.

    Tave jen' garthaz ne raiskus.

If this were enlightenment, then all the better for the strive for infinite perfection, something the Obelisk had desired all along.

    Tave jen' garthaz j'us nemoka!

Taigikori let his hand drop. The woman before him looked no different, but the aura now about her was more terrifying than before. Her eyes appeared to dilate, then shine in the darkness of the chamber. The Headmaster grinned. The dark side within him grew hot like a black flame.

"Ronovi Tavisaen Tarentae...Praetor to the Academy. Arise, and serve me well."

A lot of stuff has happened over the last month. We've seen a new Praetor take up their place at my side, the new Vendetta hits the Brotherhood on October 1st, houses can become Clans again after the New Year...all in all, stuff worth mentioning. This report, is one I'm particularly proud in, because we've never had so much content release, at least in recent days.

Good stuff first. This report, I'm releasing 3 courses, and 2 new Dark Side Degrees. First up, is the new course penned by the winner of The "Write" Stuff competition. Mandalorian Studies is now available through the Shadow Academy, under the Department of Philosophy. Locke wrote this, and I was thoroughly impressed with it.

The next two courses have been on the map for over a year, and they're finally here. Combat Tactics I and Combat Tactics II are now available through the Department of Combat Tactics.

With the release of the above, we're now able to offer the Dark Maven Combat (DMG) degree. Also on the note of Combat, the Dark Savant Tactics and Combat is now available as well. For the Savant, the practical requirement is to earn 100 Clusters of Fire, counting starting from when you earned your first Maven for the degree (either Flight or Combat). For example, if I earned my Flight Maven two years ago, and I've earned 100 CFs since then, that counts for the 100.

Another topic I want to hit on is the DB Release Form. This is an excellent tool, signing your rights to all official work over to the Brotherhood. This gives the DB leadership peace of mind, knowing someone can't go off on a temper tantrum down the line and revoke our privileges to use any material they've created for us. I'm encouraging all SA Staff members and SA course writers to sign this, and send it into Kir. However, this is something I think everyone should do. It's a show of good faith, and something I personally believe in. My Praetor and I have already sent our signed forms into Kir and Muz. The form is at the bottom of the following wiki page.

    DB Release Form

The "Write" Stuff was a huge hit, below are the winners, though I'm abstaining from using the course titles as we're using some of them for future courses. Locke and Jade placed first and second respectfully, snagging themselves 1st level Crescents for their efforts. For this month's competition, I'm reopening Blast from the Past, which two exams will be released. These are great, because they can be used for electives for future degrees you're planning on earning. It's also nice to try and pass every course we have to offer, or "offered".

Projects! Ronovi is heading all Shadow Academy fictional projects, including the prologue of what you read above. The storyline is something I came up with awhile back, and have been waiting to release it for a long time. You all won't be disappointed. The Grind Path is chugging along, as well as at least two more courses slated for release in my next report. (And one will be released in the next week or, a prelude to a much larger DB project) We're on a roll with all these exam releases, and I'm proud that they're being put out during my reign as Headmaster. It makes a guy smile.

The recruitment cards should be ready for release in the next couple of months, which I think will be a huge asset to have, at everyone's finger tips.

My apologies for having this report out a few days late. Work is killing me, as well as trying to get my own business off the ground. I'm extremely looking forward to being able to grade events in the upcoming Vendetta, which so far is looking amazing. Here are some fancy pictures taken at Celebration 5 from Aabsdu, which we're extremely thankful for and glad he enjoyed himself.

    Summary:
    -Mandalorian Studies released
-Combat Tactics I and II released
    -Combat Maven released
    -Savant Tactics and Combat released
    -Aabs gets a MDL
    -Ronovi new P:HM
